Bitou public kept in the loop

THE Coming Together Project is a township integration endeavour that aims to integrate various previously disadvantaged and separate precincts and nodes effectively into the broader Bitou municipal area and bring economic development, government and social services and facilities closer to the majority of people.
Construction has started on the regional Magistrates court complex and a new centralised community library, complete with parking facilities and public transport provisions that include a pedestrian/cycle path. The contractors are Ukana Projects (for the urban civil upgrade), MDL Electrical, and Exabuild (for the new library complex). The three contracts are running concurrently and it is envisaged that all works would be completed after 12 months.
Aurecon SA as overall project managers has appointed Alderman Pierre Koep as community liaison facilitator to keep all communities up to date with the latest developments in their respective areas. He has to identify communication channels and establish contact with interested and affected groups and stakeholders, as well as with leaders in each particular community regarding the project objectives.
Bitou Municipality and Aurecon agree that it is imperative to keep the public well informed so Ald Koep is responsible for reporting back on community needs, expectations and opinions, while facilitating the process of resolving disputes as they may arise. Contact him on 083 443 0118 with queries in this regard.
